One of the more common CAMWorks questions we get in support is “How do I limit how far the tool path goes in the Z axis to avoid fixtures?” There are actually a number of different approaches to doing this, but the simplest and fastest is the “Override Machining Depth” option in the “Operation Parameters” for that feature. This will allow the user to manually set the depth of the feature to avoid any fixtures, etc.
To find this option, right mouse click the feature and select “Edit Definition”. Then on the “Feature Options” tab you will see a small button next to the “Machining Depth” setting. Selecting this button will allow you to override the value for machining depth with whatever you choose.
