The SolidWorks Task Scheduler can be useful for automating repetitive tasks.  One example of this is converting files to the latest version of SolidWorks.  After upgrading the version of SolidWorks you may notice the message telling you the file is an older version.

The file will not be updated until it is saved in the latest version of SolidWorks.  We are frequently asked, “is there a way to automatically update all SolidWorks files to the latest version?” The answer is the “Convert Files” task in the SolidWorks Task Scheduler.

This task allows the user to point to any folder and update all SolidWorks files in that folder automatically.  The user simply clicks “Add Folder” then browses to the folder with SolidWorks files. The last step is to schedule a time for the task to run and then click “Finish”.  At the scheduled time the task will run updating all SolidWorks files in the folder selected.

NOTE: This task requires each file to be opened in SolidWorks and saved.  It is not recommended to run this task while trying to use SolidWorks.  Most users schedule this task to run overnight or over a weekend.
